The Expanding Boundaries of Coupledom
Presenter: Magdalena Fosse, Ph.D.
Polyamory and, more broadly, consensual nonmonogamy has become a relational choice for an increasing number of couples. The dynamics of opportunity and excitement versus rejection and rupture are at the core of many of these relationships. In this presentation, Dr. Magdalena Fosse will elaborate on the rise of interest in nonnormative relationships in the past couple of decades. She will provide an overview of different forms of consensual nonmonogamy, discussing their personal appeal versus relational challenges and bridging these ideas to our work in Collaborative Practice.
Dr. Magdalena Fosse is a clinical psychologist, couples’ therapist, and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. She is on the faculty and the board of directors of Psychodynamic Couples and Families Institute of New England. Dr. Fosse has an upcoming book with Routledge on polyamory from a clinical perspective. The book is entitled The Many Faces of Polyamory: Longing and Belonging in Concurrent Relationships and is coming out in March 2021.
