Jonathan Lane

Jonathan Lane has been a licensed attorney working in the Washington, DC area since 2010, after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and graduating summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis. He founded JD Lane Law in 2017 and since then has directly served over 250 clients in the District of Columbia and Maryland, the vast majority in family law.

His practice includes all aspects of mediation and negotiation, trials, and appeals. He handles child custody, divorce, civil protection orders, prenuptial agreements, child support, and some adoptions. He has won an appeal in the highest court of the District of Columbia. He has particular interest and in-depth experience in representing members of LGBTQ+ communities and others whose families are in some way unconventional, but welcomes all potential clients.

He has been interviewed and cited as a family law expert in publications including The New York Times. He has given a variety of public presentations on family law, and is the co-author of multiple peer-reviewed journal articles about child custody, one of which was cited in the ABA Journal, the most-read legal publication in the United States.
