Without a Crystal Ball? Uh Oh…. How Do We Accurately Predict a Successful Collaborative Case? Screening; Setting Expectations; Seeing Beyond the Clients’ Presentation of their Case Presented by: Lisa Herrick, PhD and Rebecca Shankman, Esquire Wednesday, November 13, 2024 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM Sometimes we think clients are delightful and the case will be “easy,” but then we are taken by surprise when we start hitting bumps, resistance, non-compliance, and resentment – from one client – or YIKES – from both! Other cases appear challenging from the start, we buckle up and create a strong team…yet the challenges become so impossible we find ourselves questioning our own judgement in agreeing with those clients to follow a Collaborative model. This program will look at techniques and approaches we could include in our screening of new cases and new clients to make the path forward a bit more predictable. We will also discuss the role of setting expectations with clients at the start, and then at different steps throughout the process in the effort to avoid some of the deadlocks, and push-backs, we ultimately have to navigate. When is it time to “call it?” To advise a client to terminate, or to discuss with our teammates the dreaded option of withdrawing? Tune in for THAT discussion in January! Monthly Member Meeting Wednesday, May 10, 2023 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM Children, Anxiety and Divorce: Helping Children Build Resilience and Manage Worry. Presented by: Bonnie Zucker, PhD This presentation will focus on understanding anxiety in children and teens whose families are going through the divorce process. We will review the symptoms and presentation of anxiety, specifically common worries and separation fears, parental factors that affect anxiety in children, and how professionals dealing with divorce can best support children. Participants will become familiar with strategies to help children and their parents address anxiety that may surface during difficult changes in the family. Patrice, Darcy, and Sarah will provide an overview of the Campaign and its successes. The presentation will be interactive, and Members will be encouraged to engage with and ask questions of the Socialistics Team and the presenters – with the goal of our membership having a deeper understanding of the Campaign, its goals, and our aspirational plans to continue the Campaign into 2024 and beyond.
